Advancing Self-Measured Blood Pressure Monitoring through Medicaid Policy
10/15/25 @ 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm CDT
One in three adults enrolled in Medicaid has hypertension.
Self-Measured Blood Pressure (SMBP) is an evidence-based intervention supporting better blood pressure control, yet access to BP devices and clinical utilization of SMBP varies across the U.S., along with BP control rates.
Join us to learn how the American Medical Association and American Heart Association are collaborating to improve Medicaid coverage for home BP devices and reimbursement for SMBP clinical services. This webinar will review the current Medicaid coverage landscape, provide real-world examples from Michigan and Maryland, and summarize implications for clinical practice.
Learning Objectives:
- Describe resources to support evidence-based use of SMBP in clinical practice
- Understand state-based policy strategies to expand Medicaid device coverage and practice reimbursement
- Discuss implementation strategies to ensure Medicaid patients are able to utilize SMBP coverage when available
