One in three adults enrolled in Medicaid has hypertension.

Self-Measured Blood Pressure (SMBP) is an evidence-based intervention supporting better blood pressure control, yet access to blood pressure devices and clinical utilization of SMBP varies across the U.S., along with BP control rates.

Learn how the American Medical Association and American Heart Association are collaborating to improve Medicaid coverage for home blood pressure devices and reimbursement for SMBP clinical services. This webinar will review the current Medicaid coverage landscape, provide real-world examples from Michigan and Maryland, and summarize implications for clinical practice.

Learning Objectives
At the completion of this course, the learner will be able to:

  • Describe resources to support evidence-based use of SMBP in clinical practice
  • Understand state-based policy strategies to expand Medicaid device coverage and practice reimbursement
  • Discuss implementation strategies to ensure Medicaid patients are able to utilize SMBP coverage when available
