This one-hour webinar will be used to train physicians, their care teams and other participants registered for the AMA/AHA joint initiative Target: BP on the appropriate use of Self-Measured Blood Pressure Monitoring (SMBP) in clinical practice. The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) and the 2017 ACC/AHA Guideline for the Prevention, Detection, Evaluation, and Management of High Blood Pressure in Adults recommend the use of SMBP to confirm the diagnosis of hypertension when office blood pressures (BPs) are high. The 2017 AHA/ACC guideline also recommends the use of SMBP to manage patients with uncontrolled hypertension. Unfortunately, many clinicians and care teams are not familiar with the use of SMBP in an evidence-based manor. This webinar will review techniques and protocols that will help participants more effectively diagnose and manage patients with hypertension. We are using a webinar format because participants are geographically located across the country.
